Supreme Court extends deadline for filing NRC claims and objections to December 31

The Supreme Court has extended the last date of filing claims and objections for the inclusion of names in the draft NRC from December 15 to December 31.

The deadline has been extended after the Assam Government submitted a plea before the apex Court for extension of deadline for filing of claims and objections.

Notably, State NRC-Cordinator Prateek Hajela has informed the Supreme Court that about 14.8 lakh out of 40 lakh people left out of the draft NRC have filed claims.
