The bodies of two young women were found in separate rented accommodations in Guwahati within 48 hours under mysterious circumstances, sparking concern and ongoing investigations.

The body of a young woman was discovered on Friday morning in a rented house in Guwahati’s Rukminigaon. The deceased, identified as Bipulabi Nath, originally from Goalpara, had been living in the accommodation for just over a month. Bipulabi Nath was employed at a local business establishment in the city.

Her sudden disappearance had raised concerns among her family and neighbours. For three days, her family had been unable to contact her, while neighbours noted she had not been seen for two days. A strong foul odour from her house prompted them to check on her, leading to the tragic discovery.

Police were immediately informed, and a forensic team is investigating the cause of death, which remains unclear.

Shockingly, this is the third such incident reported in the city within a week. On Thursday, another young woman, identified as Pratiksha Sharma from Tinsukia, was found dead in her rented room in Tarun Nagar. Pratiksha Sharma, employed with a prominent city conglomerate, was last seen alive the previous night.

CCTV footage from the Tarun Nagar locality shows a young man entering Sharma’s room around 11 PM. His identity remains unknown, and his role in the incident is under investigation.
