Guwahati: BJP Pandu Mandal President Kamal Dey Found Dead, Local Suspects Murder

He was immediately rushed to Swagat Super Speciality Surgical Institute, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Kamal Dey, BJP’s Jalukbari Mandal President.

As per inputs, Kamal Dey was on his way home on his scooter late last night (Jan 5). Next day, his body was found from Shankar Nagar in Maligaon by a passerby during their morning walk.

His scooter was also found near the body.

He was immediately rushed to Swagat Super Speciality Surgical Institute, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The body has been sent to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, Guwahati Police Commission Partha Sarathi Mahanta has rushed to the spot and probe has been initiated to determine the cause of death.

While speaking to the media, Mahanta said, “The incident seemed to be like an accident in the first place, currently, we have not ruled out the possibility of a murder.”

After investigation, Mahanta added, “CCTV footage has surfaced. The video clearly showing that the incident occurred due to an accident at a speed breaker.”

“However, some individuals continue to claim it was a murder, prompting the involvement of the CID in the ongoing investigation,” he added.

A wave of grief has enveloped his residence in Pandu, as investigations into the incident continue.
