The protest, which began at Hapania and concluded near Battala, drew thousands of participants carrying flags and chanting slogans.
The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of CPIM, held a massive rally in Agartala on Sunday, demanding action against rising unemployment, rampant drug trafficking, and the deteriorating law and order situation in Tripura.
The protest, which began at Hapania and concluded near Battala, drew thousands of participants carrying flags and chanting slogans.
DYFI leaders accused the BJP-led government of failing to fulfill its pre-election promise of creating 50,000 jobs annually and criticized its reliance on contractual hiring over permanent employment.
They alleged widespread corruption in recruitment and claimed that the unemployment rate in Tripura is higher than the national average, forcing many youths to migrate for work.
DYFI warned the government of more intensified protests across the state if their demands are not met promptly. They called upon the state administration to address the issues of unemployment, tackle the menace of drug trafficking, and restore law and order in Tripura.
The protest rally marks another instance of public discontent over governance issues in the state and underscores the challenges faced by the ruling BJP-led government in fulfilling its electoral promises.
