Moral Policing Case: Telecom Workers Mistaken for Cattle Smugglers, Brutally Attacked in Assam

A shocking incident of moral policing has come up from Moran in Eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh district, where four youths were brutally attacked by an angry mob. The victims, who were wrongly suspected of being cattle smugglers, suffered serious injuries in the assault.
The injured have been identified as Pankaj Barua, Subal Gogoi, Apurba Gogoi, and Manoj Changmai. According to reports, the youths are employees of the telecom department and were in the Holmari Path area performing their official duties when they were suddenly attacked.
The mob not only assaulted the workers but also damaged the vehicle they were traveling in. Adding to their ordeal, the victims have alleged that the miscreants looted their valuables, including mobile phones, a gold chain, and cash.
Following the incident, a case has been registered with the local police, and an investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the attackers.
