Tragic: Mother-Daughter Drown as Car Plunges Into River In Assam’s Cachar

The victims, identified as Helena Begum Borbhuyan and her daughter Jannatara Begum were traveling with Rais Uddin, Helena’s husband.
In a tragic incident, a woman and her young daughter died after the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and fell into the Barak River in Assam’s Cachar district late Tuesday night.
The victims, identified as Helena Begum Borbhuyan and her daughter Jannatara Begum, were traveling with Rais Uddin, Helena’s husband.
Reportedly, the family had gone to Silchar for medical consultation and was returning home to Barakhala Mohanpur when the tragic incident occurred.
After the vehicle plunged into the river, Rais Uddin somehow managed to break the car’s window and escape, saving his own life. However, his wife and daughter were swept away by the strong current of the river.
Local police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams hurried to the scene upon receiving news of the accident. A large number of locals and SDRF personnel searched the river through the night.
Today morning, the SDRF team recovered the bodies of the mother and daughter from the Barak River.
