North East India Film Festival 2025: Entries Open for Celebrating Regional Cinema in Imphal

The 2nd Edition of the North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) 2025 is set to be held from February 12 to 16 at Imphal.

The 2nd Edition of the North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) 2025 is set to be held from February 12 to 16 at TanthaPolis Cinema in Lamphel, Imphal. The festival will feature two categories Feature Film and Non-Feature Film and promises to be a grand celebration of Northeastern cinema.

During a press conference in Imphal, Yengkhom Nilachandra, Chairman of the festival’s organizing committee, officially announced the call for entries. Filmmakers and producers from the eight Northeastern states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura are invited to submit their films.

The festival is being organized by THOUNA, Manipur, in collaboration with the Film Forum Manipur and the Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Manipur. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and the National Film Development Corporation.

“The NEIFF 2025 aims to promote films that excel aesthetically and technically while also reflecting social relevance,” said Nilachandra. He added that the event seeks to foster a deeper appreciation of the region’s rich cultural diversity through cinema, contributing to national unity and inclusivity.

The festival provides a platform for directors, writers, cinematographers, editors, and producers to showcase their exceptional work to a national audience. It also aims to nurture a thriving film industry and promote cinema as an art form.

Films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) between January 1 and December 31, 2024, are eligible. A non-competitive section may also feature films certified by state authorities.

The festival will recognize excellence in the following categories:

Best Feature Film
Best Director (Feature Film)
Best Screenplay (Feature Film)
Best Cinematography (Feature Film)
Best Editing (Feature Film)
Best Sound (Feature Film)
Hon’ble Jury Award (Feature Film)
Best Non-Feature Film
