Allu Arjun Arrested in Sandhya Theatre Stampede Case. Read Details of Case Here

Amid the roaring success of his films including his recent film Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun was arrested today by Hyderabad Police in connection with the stampede that happened on December 4 at the Sandhya Theatre during the Pushpa-2 premiere. The stampede left a woman dead and her son critically injured.

The police team, headed by the assistant commissioner, arrived at his home to take him into custody while his family members were present. The authorities escorted him to their vehicle before transporting him to the police station, The Times of India reported. The Telegu actor was taken to the Chikkadpally police station in Hyderabad.

Why Allu Arjun Was Arrested

The stampede took place when Allu Arjun’s appearance at the theatre, accompanied by his security personnel, prompted an unmanaged rush of people attempting to enter the venue.
“The theatre management did not make any additional provisions regarding security to manage the crowd nor was there any separate entry or exit for the actors’ team though the theatre management had information about their arrival,” The Times of India report quoted the police.

The police had registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s family.

Just yesterday, the actor had moved the Telengana High Court to quash the FIR and requested a stay on all further proceedings, including arrest but his plea is yet to be heard.  The actor denied any wrongdoing and sought legal relief. He expressed deep regret and had announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the family of the deceased.

The actor will be produced in court later today.
