Tickets for international pop sensation Ed Sheeran’s Shillong concert was sold out in under five minutes after they went live for the general public at 4 pm on Wednesday.

Pre-sale tickets were made available exclusively for select cardholders on Monday, while general ticket sales opened on Wednesday. Each person was allowed to book up to six tickets. Ticket prices for the Shillong show were more affordable compared to other cities, starting at Rs 1,200.

The India leg of Ed Sheeran’s tour will begin in Pune on January 30 and will include performances in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru. The Shillong concert is scheduled for February 12 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The tickets were divided into four parts — Stands, General Admission, General Admission Plus and HSBC Star Struck Lounge. The cost of the tickets varied in different cities. The costliest tickets were sold at Rs 28,000 in Gurgaon and Bengaluru. In Shillong, the costliest tickets were sold at Rs 14,000.

Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, which follows the massive success of the Bryan Adams concert at JN Stadium Polo, which drew a crowd of approximately 40,000. The state government is gearing up for Sheeran’s performance on February 12, 2025, expecting it to be another milestone for Shillong’s growing reputation as a hub for international music events.

Paul Lyngdoh stated, “As you might have noticed he is already a crowd puller and yesterday all tickets were sold online in five minutes. So it just shows the kind of attraction, the appeal, the strength of Meghalaya’s tourism as a major attractor of these international artists and audiences from around the country.”
