Tragic: Rare Golden Langoor Electrocuted in Assam’s Bongaigaon, Baby Mourns Death of Mom

In a heart-wrenching incident, a rare golden langur was electrocuted near the Kakoijana Reserved Forest in Assam’s Bongaigaon district. The endangered species came in contact with an electric transformer, leading to its death.

The lifeless body of the female langur lay on the ground, while her shell-shocked baby mourned beside her. Members of the herd also gathered near the site, appearing visibly distressed by the tragedy.

Moved by the incident, local villagers covered the deceased langur’s body with a cloth, adorned it with flowers, and offered prayers for its soul.

Golden langurs, listed as endangered, are a rare and majestic species found in limited regions. The incident emphasises the urgent need for safeguarding their habitats and addressing human-induced threats, such as electrocution, to ensure their survival.
