Row Over Pushpabanta Palace Intensifies, Royal Scion Calls for Stakeholder Talks

Tripura’s royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has called for inclusive discussions involving all stakeholders.

The controversy surrounding the Tripura government’s decision to lease Pushpabanta Palace to the Taj Group for converting it into a 5-star hotel has escalated, drawing sharp reactions from various quarters.

Amid growing protests, Tripura’s royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has called for inclusive discussions involving all stakeholders before any decision is finalized. He said that such a significant issue requires dialogue and cooperation, urging the government to set aside egos and prioritize consensus.

Pradyot, who is the founder of TIPRA MOTHA, reiterated his willingness to present his views, along with those of other concerned parties, to the government. “I am hopeful that the government will invite me for talks. Ego must not come in the way of resolving such an important matter,” he remarked.

The royal scion revealed that he has been in touch with Chief Minister Manik Saha regarding the issue and is optimistic about finding a solution through open discussions.

Pushpabanta Palace, an iconic landmark in Tripura, has been a subject of public and political interest due to its historical and cultural significance.

The government’s proposal to transform it into a luxury hotel has sparked debates, with critics questioning the preservation of heritage and stakeholders demanding greater transparency in the decision-making process.
