Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with state Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to review the ongoing process of filing claims
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with state Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to review the ongoing process of filing claims and objections for including names in the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Talking to newspersons after the meeting, CM Sarbananda Sonowal urged the people of Assam to file claims for including names, besides the chief minister also urged for filing objections if names of any illegal migrants have made it to the NRC.
The Chief Minister revealed that he has urged the Home Minister to overview the process for a concrete solution to the illegal migrants issue.
The meeting held at the Union Home Minister’s residence was also attended by BJP National President Amit Shah.
Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh took stock of the prevailing law and order situation in the state with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, who was also present in the meeting.
Apart from this, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s preparation for the upcoming Panchayat elections in the state was also discussed.
