Manipur Unrest: Manipuri Man from Assam Allegedly Abducted by Miscreants from Kangpokpi

The allegedly abducted man has been identified as Laishram Kamalbabu, a resident of Goshaipur in Assam’s Cachar.
Tension has escalated in the peripheral areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal West following the alleged abduction of a supervisor working with the 57th Mountain Division of the Indian Army under the Military Engineer Services.
The allegedly abducted man has been identified as Laishram Kamalbabu, a resident of Goshaipur in Assam’s Cachar.
The suspected abduction occurred in the Kangpokpi Hills, and locals have expressed growing concern over the safety of the missing individual.
Residents in the area have demanded the immediate rescue of Kamalbabu, organizing a sit-in protest near an Army camp in an effort to pressure authorities into taking swift action.
Kamalbabu’s wife appeals for the rescue and safe release of her husband.
The Army has launched a search operation to locate Kamalbabu. Meanwhile, local authorities, including the SDPO of Lamphel and the Officer-in-Charge of Sekmai Police Station, are on the ground.
CCTV footage is being reviewed and workers being interrogated in an effort to gather clues about the missing individual’s whereabouts.
This alleged abduction comes amid renewed violence in Manipur since November 7, 2024 and five Valley districts being under curfew and an internet ban in 9 districts of the state due to the fresh spate of violence since November 7.
