It also includes government colleges and institutions under the Higher and Technical Education Department, as well as state universities, which will continue to stay closed until the end of the month.

Educational institutions in the Imphal Valley have remained shut since November 16, following violent unrest sparked by protests after the recovery of six bodies in Jiribam. The violence led to the imposition of a curfew in the region. The public outrage over these killings led to attacks on the homes and properties of several ministers and MLAs. In response, some ministers have fortified their residences with barbed wire and increased security measures.

The government’s decision to extend the closure aims to maintain public safety and address the ongoing situation. Further updates will be provided as needed.

It needs to be mentioned that, amid the escalating violence in Jiribam on November 7 and peaked on November 11 in the Borobekra sub-division of Jiribam district, where armed miscreants attacked a relief camp and CRPF posts and abducted three women and three children who were later found dead.
