Ahead of the Gambegre bypolls, former Meghalaya Chief Minister and TMC leader Mukul Sangma, in a scathing attack on NPP leader and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, has accused him of being BJP’s puppet and an agent of the saffron party in Meghalaya.

Mukul Sangma in a direct attack on the Chief Minister who is the NPP’s national president, said that there is a nexus between NPP and the BJP. He went on to say that the BJP and the NPP are just two sides of the same coin.

Addressing multiple rallies in the run up to the Gambegre by-polls on November 13, the TMC leader alleged that it was the BJP leaders who made Conrad Sangma the Chief Minister despite him not being an MLA. Mukul Sangma claimed that the nexus between the two parties was exposed even further during the recent MP elections.

These allegations come at a time when Conrad Sangma’s wife Mehtab Chandee is the NPP candidate for the Gambegre seat and is up against TMC’s Sadhiarani Sangma, wife of 3-time former Rangsakona MLA, Zenith Sangma, BJP’s Bernard Marak and Congress’ Jingjang M Marak. Sadhiarani is Mukul Sangma’s sister-in-law.
