Ahead of the November 28 Assembly polls, the Mizoram People’s Forum (MPF) which is a church-sponsored poll watchdog, has appealed to all political parties to stick and respect the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the political parties and watchdog as well as the guidelines framed by the latter to ensure free and fair elections.

Speaking to media persons, MPF General Secretary Rev Lalbiakmawia said the forum has been working hard to make Mizoram a role model for other states in term of conducting elections in a free and fair manner.

He further added that the forum issued guidelines to all political parties based on the Election Commission of India’s model code of conduct to ensure free and fair election.

It may be mentioned that the MPF is an independent body formed in 2006 by Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod, the largest Christian denomination in the north eastern state.

As many as 6 six major churches in Mizoram are members of the MPF.
