Based on a secret intelligence input, the Cachar Police team conducted two separate operations on Monday evening against the transportation of narcotic substances at Kanakpur Part II, Silchar, and Ramnagar in Sonai.
As per sources, a 20-year-old has been arrested in connection to the raid, identified as Akhtar Hussain Borbhuiyan.
The police recovered 44 soap cases filled with heroin weighing 572 grams and 10,000 Yaba tablets. The seized narcotics are valued at approximately Rs 7 crore.
In connection to the seizure, a motorcycle bearing registration no. AS 11 U 7249 used in illegal transportation has also been seized. The consignment of the narcotics substance was illegally transported from Vairengte of Mizoram.
Cachar SP Numal Mahatta confirmed that further investigations are underway to uncover more details about the operation and its network. The bust highlights the vigilance of local law enforcement in tackling the growing drug menace in the region.
