Manipur: Farmers Affected by Crisis Can Now Apply for Kharif Paddy Compensation

n a move to support farmers in Manipur who were unable to cultivate Kharif paddy in 2024 due to the ongoing crisis, the Agriculture Department of Manipur has announced a new initiative for financial compensation.
Many affected farmers can now apply for assistance through an online platform, providing much-needed relief to those whose livelihoods have been disrupted. The deadline for applications is October 15, 2024.
To apply easily by the farmers Agriculture Department has launched a dedicated website, https://farmercompensation.in, where farmers can submit their applications using a smartphone or computer. Applicants must use their Aadhaar-linked mobile number to access the portal.
Along with their personal details, farmers are required to upload either photos of their affected fields or a Google map image in cases where the land is inaccessible. After submitting the application, it will be verified by the SDO, DC, and the Directorate of Agriculture.
Once verified, the eligible farmers will receive compensation directly into their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The funds for this compensation will be requested from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and disbursed as soon as they are made available.
The order further said, farmers seeking assistance with the process can contact their local SDOs, DCs, or District Agriculture Officers. Additionally, instructional videos have been made available on the website to guide farmers through the application steps.
This initiative was officially issued by the Director of Agriculture, Manipur, as part of the government’s efforts to provide immediate relief to farmers affected by the state’s crisis. The department has emphasized its commitment to ensuring farmers receive timely financial support .
