Attention Smokers: Sikkim Govt Bans Smoking in All Public Places

Violators will face strict disciplinary action as per relevant laws.
In a move towards making Sikkim a healthier and more liveable state, the government has announced its decision to ban smoking in all public places, including offices premises, washrooms and toilets.
Anyone found violating the rule will face strict disciplinary action in accordance with relevant laws and office regulations, said the government in a notice.
The directive has been issued under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act of 2023 to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
