Two rhino poachers were killed on Monday night in a joint operation by the STF personnel and police at Sitalmari in Assam’s Morigaon district.
The raid was carried out on a tip off about the presence of poachers in the area. An exchange of firing took place between the security forces and the poachers which left two of the poachers dead.
One of the dead poachers has been identified as Sweet Ahmed who hails from Merapani in Golaghat district. The rest of the poachers managed to flee the scene.
The security forces a three not three rifle, a silencer, a lifeguard tube and a bag from the poachers’ hideout.
