CM Tamang stated that the government runs with a system, not with the menace of anyone.
The Sikkim Government has announced a significant policy change regarding the regularization of jobs of Assistant Professors in the state.
As per the existing policy, Assistant Professor’s positions were regularized after 4 years of service; however, the P S Tamang government has now decided to extend this time to 8 years.
The Government’s decision came after a few Assistant Professors demanded the state government to remove the one-year probation period required after 4 years of service.
Speaking at the Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebration at Manan Kendra, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang said that the government has been regularizing their positions after completion of 4 years of service even though many candidates failed to meet all the requirements. Yet they are now requesting that the probationary term be removed. What makes them so ungrateful of the government? questioned CM Tamang.
He stated that the government runs with a system, not as per the whims and fancies of anyone.
The Chief Minister said that the Government will not bow to external pressure and will stick to its earlier decision to regularize Assistant Professors only after they have served 8 years.
He has directed Education Minister Raju Basnett and Secretary Tashi Chopel Lepcha to issue a notification regarding this.
