Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will virtually launch the ‘Nijut Moina’ scheme today, aiming to improve educational opportunities for female students and address child marriage and early marriage issues in the state. What is Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina (MMNM) scheme And What Are The Benefits?
Earlier on June 12, 2024, Chief Minister Sarma announced the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina (MMNM) scheme, which was subsequently approved by the Assam government cabinet.
Under the MMNM scheme, girl students enrolled in higher secondary education will receive Rs. 1,000 per month. Those pursuing a three-year or four-year degree graduation course will receive Rs. 1,200 per month. Additionally, girls enrolled in Post-Graduation or B.Ed. degree programs will receive Rs. 2,500 per month.
How Many Female Students Will Benefit?
The scheme aims to benefit approximately 10 lakh female students in the state by promoting education and providing financial support.
The Assam government’s initiative is a significant step towards promoting girl education and addressing the issue of child marriage in the state, fostering a more educated and empowered female population.
