Lovlina Borgohain’s Heartfelt Apology to Everyone for Failing to Bring Olympic Medal Home

Lovlina Borgohain vowed to work even harder and return much stronger the next time.
Ace Indian boxer and Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist from Assam, Lovlina Borgohain has penned down a heartfelt message on social media apologizing to everyone for failing to bring home a medal from the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024.
She especially apologised to the people of Assam and vowed to work even harder and return much stronger the next time.
“I really want to say sorry to the entire Nation that I couldn’t bring a medal home this time. Especially to the people of Assam who always pray for me no matter what. I will work harder and come back stronger than ever next time. This isn’t over, looking for a fresh start once again. I also want to thank all the coaches, support staff, SAI, Assam Government, BFI, Reliance Sports Foundation, IOS sports and all my sponsors for all the support and encouragement they showered on me,” Lovlina’spost read.

The reigning world champion in her weight category bowed out of the Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday following her 1-4 loss to China’s Li Qian in the women’s 75 kg category.
With Lovlina’s heartbreaking loss, India’s boxing campaign at the ongoing Olympics came to a medal-less end following Nishant Dev’s elimination from the men’s 71kg quarterfinals on Saturday night in a similarly closely fought contest.
It may be mentioned here that the Indian boxing contingent at the Paris Games comprised six athletes—four women and two men. Four of the six boxers were eliminated in the preliminary rounds.
