Assam: APSC Main Exams Starts Today; In a First, Question Papers in Assamese Too

First Published: 26th July, 2024 10:23 IST

The move will provide candidates with a choice that aligns with their linguistic preferences.

In a historic first, candidates appearing for the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (Main) that starts from today, will get question papers in Assamese along with the existing English format.

This will allow candidates to write answers in their preferred language and make things easy for those comfortable with Assamese only.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the decision was taken during a recent Assam Cabinet meeting in Bongaigaon.

” The Assam Public Service Commission was formed after India got independence to appoint candidates to the various services of the State Government. India completed 75 years of Independence, but over these years, the question papers of the APSC examination were set in the English language. In a recent Cabinet meeting in Bongaigaon, we have decided that we will now also set the question papers in Assamese language, which is the state’s official language,” said CM Sarma.

The CEC (Main) 2023 exams started today in two shifts — 9.00 AM to 12 noon and 1.30 PM to 4.30 PM. CCE Prelims 2023 we’re held on March 18, 2024.

The recruitment drive aims to fill up a total of 235 vacancies in Assam Civil Services (ACS), Assam Police Services (APS), and other departments of the APSC.
