After a calm period of around one and a half months, a fresh incident of a petrol bomb attack was reported today from the Barapathar area in Meghalaya, just 3 kilometers from the state secretariat. This is the 10th such attack since April 3 this year.
The petrol bomb was lobbed at the residence of Julie Lyngdoh around 7:30 in the morning.
According to reports, unknown miscreants approached from behind the house and first threw stones at the residence before hurling the petrol bomb.
Speaking to Northeast Live, East Khasi Hills SP informed that no one was injured in the attack, and they have initiated a probe to identify the miscreants.
This incident has raised serious questions about the state’s law and order situation.
Earlier, police stations and government vehicles have been targeted in several incidents of petrol bomb attacks.
On April 3, a petrol bomb was hurled at the Mawlai Police Station, damaging a police vehicle parked on the premises.

It should be noted that petrol bombs were also thrown at the Shillong Sadar and Rynjah police stations in the West Jaintia Hills district on April 30.
A similar attack targeted a camp of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Shillong’s Mawlai area on the night of May 1.
On May 2, a vehicle belonging to the Directorate of Water Resources caught fire in Shillong after miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at it.
