Assam Govt announces Rs 50 lakh for ‘Village Rockstars’ promotion

A crucial cabinet meeting of the Assam government was held while being chaired by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal yesterday.
An important decision to financially support Rima Das’ film ‘Village Rockstars’ was taken by the state government as it has now been included in the race for Oscars in the foreign film category.
A financial aid of Rs 50 lakh will be given to the film’s makers and also 50 percent of entertainment tax would be waived off for the film.
Apart form this, the Assam State University Act has got a green light from the state government.
The proposed state sports university is to be located at Chabua. Apart from that a decision was also taken to provide old age pension to all aged persons in the state.
The scheme will be launched by the Chief Minister on October 2 at a function in Guwahati’s Sarusajai Stadium.
Also, a law is being proposed to waive off 10 paise tax for small tea farmers in the state under the Amendment in Assam on Special Land Act.
