The UNC reiterated its position that the Naga areas should not be bifurcated or alienated.

Manipur’s Apex Naga Body, the United Naga Council (UNC) has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the peace process and settle the Naga political issue based on the 2015 Framework Agreement.

In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, the UNC reiterated its position that the Naga areas should not be bifurcated or alienated and stressed the importance of recognizing the Naga national flag and constitution.

The council expressed its concern over the ongoing conflict between Meitei and Kuki in Manipur and urged the government to take caution while formulating any plans for resolution between the two groups and to avoid further conflicts.

The UNC appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sincerely intervene and settle the Indo-Naga political issue once and for all, which would go a long way in bringing peace and progress to the Northeast region.
