Assam Cabinet Rejig: CM Sarma to handle health and family welfare, Keshab Mahanta gets additional charge of transport, excise and fisheries depts

Keshab Mahanta will continue to be Minister of Information Technology, Science and Technology of Assam.
The Assam government today announced a minor reshuffle in its Cabinet after the exit of Parimal Suklabaidya to the Parliament.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken additional charge of the Health & Family Welfare Department, which was earlier with his Cabinet colleague Keshab Mahanta.
Keshab Mahanta has been given additional charges of Excise, Fisheries and Transport departments, departments which were earlier held by Parimal Suklabaidya.
Mahanta will continue to be Minister of Information Technology, Science and Technology of Assam.
CM Sarma has served as the Assam Health Minister thrice – 2006, 2011 and 2016. He was the Health Minister till he took over as Assam CM in May 2021.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who already is in charge of the Home Department, Personnel Department, Public Works Department, has taken the additional departments of Indigenous & Tribal Faith and Culture Department, portfolios which was earlier held by Minister Ranoj Pegu.
Minister Pegu will continue to be Minister for Education, Tribal Welfare, and Directorates of Library and Museum.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will continue to be in charge of any other department not allotted to any of his Cabinet colleagues.
The reshuffle was necessitated as Parimal Suklabaidya was elected as MP after winning the Silchar (SC) Parliamentary constituency in the recently concluded 18th Lok Sabha elections.
After his victory, Parimal Suklabaidya resigned from his ministerial position and as MLA of Dholai.
