Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya said he has full faith that the new government will work with full devotion for the development of the state.

Sikkim Chief Minister-elect and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha President, Prem Singh Tamang today staked claim to form the new government in the Himalayan state.

Following the exceptional results in the State Assembly elections, all the newly elected members of the Legislative Assembly, led by Chief Minister-elect Prem Singh Tamang, called on Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at the Raj Bhavan today.

The proposal signed by all the newly elected MLAs nominating Prem Singh Tamang as the leader of the legislative party and the candidate for the post of Chief Minister for the 11th Sikkim Legislative Assembly was submitted to the Governor.

The Governor expressed his confidence in the new government and said he has full faith that the new government, under the leadership of Prem Singh Tamang, will work with full devotion for the development of the state and the welfare of the people.

Earlier on Sunday after the announcement of the results, Prem Singh Tamang was unanimously elected for his 2nd term, as the Leader of the Legislature for the SKM party.

Meanwhile, the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Government in Sikkim is likely to be held on June 7th or 9th.

Sources informed Northeast Live that the oath-taking has been postponed keeping in view the Lok Sabha election results.

As per sources, the oath-taking in Sikkim which was initially scheduled for June 5, will now be held only after the formation of the government at the Centre.

Speaking about the SKM’s defeat at the Shyari constituency, SKM leader Jacob Khaling said that the misconceptions and rumours among the public contributed to the party’s defeat there.

He also said that somehow the truth of the development works in the state did not reach the people of the constituency due to which the voting did not go in the SKM’s favour.
