Mizoram Floods: Aizawl, Lunglei and Mamit worst affected

Chief Minister Lalduhoma has conveyed condolences for those who died and displaced people caused by the natural calamity.
Mizoram has emerged as one of the worst-affected states in the Northeastern region of India in the wake of Cyclone Remal.
The devastating cyclone has claimed 27 lives, with several others still missing. A total of 167 villages across three districts–Aizawl, Lunglei, and Mamit have been affected.
Addressing the impact of the natural disaster, Chief Minister Lalduhoma said that scores have been affected with Aizawl, Lunglei and Mamit being the worst affected.
Due to the disruption in communication, reports of affected families are still trickling in from across the state, said the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma said that search operations for those missing continue and the death toll is expected to rise further. He also added that several families have been evacuated from risky areas.
He also lauded the teams of search and rescue operations for their tireless effort and conveyed condolences for those who died and displaced people caused by the natural calamity.
The Chief Minister said that the state government will be approaching the Centre for assistance.
He also urged all those capable to donate to the Chief Minister’s relief fund.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced Rs 15 crore for victims of Cyclone Remal, with Rs 4 lakh each given as ex-gratia to the next of kin of those who died.
