Security guard commits suicide at Assam Chief Minister’s Guwahati residence

Sensation prevailed within the compound of the official residence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal after one of the security guards committed suicide yesterday evening.

The incident happened at the barracks of the security guards in the lower storey of the Brahmaputra state guest house at Kharguli, where Sukleshwar Kathar shot himself with six bullets from an AK-47 rifle.

The injured security personnel was brought to the Mohendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital where the guard was declared dead by the doctors.

So far it is not known what exactly led to the incident. Police is yet to determine if it was a murder or a suicide. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has ordered a probe into the incident.
