A special National Investigation Agency court today delivered the verdict in the infamous mass killings carried out by terror outfit NDFB-Songbijit in 2014.

Two of the four NDFB-S cadres identified as Ajay Basumatary and Bishnu Narzary who were earlier convicted by the court were given death sentences.

Meanwhile, the other two identified as Nitul Daimari and Sanju Bordoloi were handed over life sentences.

On 23 December 2014, cadres of NDFB-S, a proscribed rebel organisation, had indiscriminately fired upon the inhabitants of Santipur Village under Rakhakmari Police.

Six innocent people were killed in the terror attack near Dekhiajuli in Assam’s Sonitpur District.

A charge sheet in the case was filed by the NIA in July 2015 against them. After the investigation of the case by NIA, the four accused were apprehended.

The case was being heard by the special NIA Court in Guwahati, that pronounced life sentence of the four accused.
