Floods continue to wreak havoc in Assam as two villages in core areas under Dibru-Saikhowa National Park in Assam’s Dibrugarh district is now under water.
As many as 924 families in Laika village and 1206 families in Dodhia village that falls in the core area of the National Park are now trapped inside the National Park owing to the rising water levels of river Brahmaputra.
On the other hand, water level of Brahmaputra River has crossed the danger level mark in Dibrugarh and alert has been sounded. Ferry service between Bogibeelghat, Dibrugarh and Karengchapori, Dhemaji suspended due to floods.
Meanwhile, rising water levels of Ranganadi has wreaked havoc in Assam’s Lakhimpur district. At least 20 villages are now under water, as the NEEPCO has released excess water into the Ranganadi.
