Meghalaya: Dy CM Prestone Tynsong chairs key meet to review Shillong law and order situation

The closed door meeting was convened to discuss the steps taken to prevent any untoward incident like the latest incidents of petrol bomb attacks in close intervals.

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and in-charge Home (Police) today chaired a high-level security meeting in Shillong and reviewed the prevailing law and order situation in the state capital.

The closed door meeting was convened to discuss the steps taken to prevent any untoward incident like the latest incidents of petrol bomb attacks targeting government buildings and police vehicles in frequent intervals.

Mukesh Kumar Singh, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), Davis N.R. Marak, IPS, Dy. Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range) and Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills Rituraj Ravi were present in the meeting chaired by the Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister.

The senior police officials briefed Prestone Tynsong on the security arrangements and further steps taken to contain such incidents.

Last night a vehicle of the Water Resources department was set ablaze while it was parked in the office premises.

With 8 petrol bomb attacks in Shillong city and one in Jowai, besides the burning of a vehicle in Shillong last night, has raised questions on the law and order situation in the East Khasi Hills District particularly in Shillong city. Till now no arrests have been made.
