Concerned over the unprecedented situation in river Siang, where certain areas are facing drought-like situation while others are reeling under flood, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday drew attention of the Union Home Ministry in a letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Khandu sought an inter-ministerial meeting to assess the situation around the river Siang for further needful action and precautionary measures.

Khandu informed the Home Minister about the reports of the river Siang flowing above the danger level. He reiterated that many houses have been washed away due to the impact of gushing flood water causing a great concern among the locals.

He further requested the ministry to depute an inter-ministerial team to visit the flood and drought affected areas of the state so that immediate remedial measures can be taken at the earliest.
