Weight of school bags reduced in Assam

the decision to reduce the weight of school bags has been taken keeping in mind both the mental and physical health condition of the students.
In a big relief to the students of Assam, the state government has issued notifcation for reducing the weight of the schoolbags for students from Class 1 to Class 10 from the 2024-25 session onwards.
The state education department has stated that the maximum weight of school bags will be 1.5-2kg for students of Classes 1 and 2; 2-3 kg for students of Class 3 to 5; weight of school bags for students of Class 6 to 8 will be 3-4 kg and for students of Class 9 & 8, the weight of school bag should be 5kg at the most.
As per reports, the decision to reduce the weight of school bags has been taken keeping in mind both the mental and physical health condition of the students.
