Last day of campaigning for 1st phase of LS polls and assembly polls in Arunachal, Sikkim

By the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) rules, political advertisements or campaigns for the first phase and Assembly polls will come to an end at 5 PM

Candidates and political parties are making their final push to woo voters as the campaigning for the 1st phase of Lok Sabha elections as well as the Assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will come to an end today.

With this, by the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) rules, political advertisements or campaigns for the first phase and Assembly polls will come to an end at 5 PM.

In both Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, all the national and regional political parties are engaged in a final blitz of campaigning.

Candidates and parties are making their closing arguments to the electorate, emphasizing their respective visions and promises.

In Sikkim, the She Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), the Citizen Action Party (CAP) and the BJP are the key contenders in the state’s political arena, vying for the 32-member Legislative Assembly and lone Lok Sabha seat.

Arunachal is likely to see a close fight between the BJP and Congress, National Peoples Party (NPP) as well as smaller regional parties, for the 60-member Legislative Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats (Arunachal East and Arunachal West).

Meanwhile, Papum Pare District Election Officer, Jiken Bomjen appealed for a free, fair and peaceful election in Arunachal Pradesh.

Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh are scheduled for April 19.

The counting of votes in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh will take place on June 2 and 4, respectively.
