Answering to a question during his campaign on whether there is concern that the Congress will dent the TMC’s vote share, Zenith said that there was a need to clear
With just two days left for the Lok Sabha elections in the Northeastern state of Meghalaya the TMC Lok Sabha candidate for Tura seat Zenith M Sangma on Monday alleged that the Congress’s intention is not to win but to lure votes from the TMC and facilitate a win for the ruling NPP.
Answering to a question during his election campaign on whether there is concern that the Congress will dent the TMC’s vote share, Zenith said that there was a need to clear the confusion of the people.
“The aim of the Congress is not to win but to lure the votes of the TMC and facilitate the win for the NPP. There is a deep rooted conspiracy between the Congress leadership and the NPP,” he alleged.
Moreover Zenith rubbished the claims made by Saleng that TMC was damaging the vote share of the Congress by coming into the picture which would later benefit the NPP in terms of votes.
It is worth mentioning that both the TMC and Congress are a part of the I.N.D.I.A formed to defeat the BJP government at the centre.
Taking a further dig at Congress, Zenith stated “On the context of the Tura Parliamentary seat our vote share was 1 lakh 95 thousand whereas the Congress’ was merely 65,000 in the last elections. It was just 1/3 of ours so on what basis did they field a candidate here. If you look at the figures, it is the TMC who should be fielding a candidate”
“They should have fielded a candidate in Shillong but they do not want to win but are intentionally jeopardizing the chances of the TMC because they want it to fail,” he added.
Expressing his views on the sitting MP of Tura Agatha Sangma , Zenith said that there were complaints everywhere that no work has been done by the current MP.
“She has also done the opposite (Supporting CAA) of what she promised before the elections. How will her promises have credibility this time too. People know that as they are now very conscious and want a change,” he added.
Reacting to the claims of development by the Conrad Sangma led ruling MDA, Zenith said that it is the people who would judge.
“The NPP may be talking about development but it is the people who will judge. Most of the developments were the initiative of the then Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is merely inaugurating the completion of the projects. Take the example of the Governor’s House, Captain Williamson Sangma Technical State University, College of Achitecture etc.,” he further added.
