Lok Sabha polls- Mizoram: We are fully geared up, says DGP Anil Shukla

DGP Shukla assured that preparations are being made as per Security Deployment Manual of the Election Commission of India (ECI)

Mizoram DGP Anil Shukla today said that all security arrangements are in place to ensure a free and fair Lok Sabha election in the state.
Briefing newspersons in Aizawl, DGP Shukla said, “For the upcoming parliamentary elections to be held on April 19, we are fully geared up. We have been provided with extra armed police forces by the Government of India, MHA. 12 companies have been given for all 11 districts. We have distributed these companies to various districts. They are performing duties related to area domination, flag march, patrolling as well as special naakas and special checkpoints. Apart from this the local police as well as our state armed police is also doing its job.”
He assured that preparations are being made as per the Security Deployment Manual of the Election Commission of India (ECI)
With 19 Critical Polling Stations, the DGP stated that these are manned by Mizoram Police combined with Central Armed Police Force as required by ECI., with additional, two Expenditure Sensitive Polling Stations which also required special vigilance.
83 Flying Squads Team and 81 Static Surveillance Teams have been deployed across the state to check the prevalence of intoxicating drugs and liquor to lure voters, distribution of money and coercion of force etc.

DGP Shukla also mentioned that as per the direction of the ECI, inter-state movements will be stopped 48 hours before the closing of Poll by the Inter-State NAKAS and that this stoppage is made partial in the sense that important movements will be allowed under maximum security; and appeal to the public to understand the movement of vehicles which may be delayed due to strict security checking.
