Assam: Woman arrested for physically torturing minor housemaid in Dibrugarh

A woman has been arrested in Assam’s Dibrugarh for allegedly physically torturing a minor domestic maid helper at her residence for quite some time now.

As per inputs, a young girl, who was employed at a residence of a doctor as a housemaid has been the victim of atrocities by the wife of the doctor.

It was only after, their neighbours lodged a complaint against the doctor’s wife at the Dibrugarh Sadar Police Station, that police rescued the child and arrested the woman, said Officer in Charge of Dibrugarh Sadar Police Station.

The victim is now with the Dibrugarh Child Line authorities.

The police had registered a case at the Dibrugarh Sadar Police Station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as sections under the Juvenile Justice Act and Child Labour Act.

The Assam Government is proactively working towards eliminating crime against children.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has earlier said that serious actions will be taken against criminals of child abuse.
