With just 5 days left for the assembly and the Lok Sabha elections in Sikkim, concerns are mounting over the escalating incidents of pre-poll violence in different parts of the state.

In a fresh incident, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM’s) Geyzing-Bermoik candidate, Loknath Sharma’s residence was allegedly vandalized last night.

Loknath Sharma has alleged that the vandalism was allegedly carried out by supporters of independent candidate Khusendra Sharma.

Miscreants numbering in the dozens arrived in the middle of the night pelted stones at the residence and created a ruckus.

Loknath Sharma has filed an FIR against the people responsible for the incident at the Geyzing Police Station.

Sharma said that SKM is a party which practices peace and works for development. The people who came to attack him came to destroy the progress which SKM has brought for the people.

It may be mentioned here that Khusendra Sharma was recently expelled from the ruling SKM party. He is now contesting as an Independent candidate against Loknath Sharma from the Geyzing-Bermiok constituency.

Voting for the 32-member Sikkim Assembly and the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state will be held on April 19 and counting will take place on June 2.
