Sikkim: SDF President Pawan Chamling Dissolves SDF Committees

First Published: 2nd September, 2024 19:16 IST

Party President Pawan Chamling said that fresh committees of the party at different levels will be constituted soon.

In what can be seen as a strategic move to restructure the Party organization, the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), led by the country’s longest-serving Chief Minister Pawan Chamling which ruled Sikkim 25 long years until its defeat in the 2019 assembly elections, has dissolved all of its Committees, except for a few, with immediate effect.

The decision was announced by Party President Pawan Chamling during a Central Executive Committee meeting at the SDF Bhawan in Gangtok.

The Party has dissolved the entire Committees of the Party including Central Working Committee, Central Executive Committee, District Working Committees of all Districts of Sikkim, Constituency Level Executive Committees of entire Assembly Constituencies, Ward Level Committees of all Wards and the Committee of all Frontal Organizations of the Sikkim Democratic Front Party except the Administrative and Legal Affairs, Social Media Affairs, Publicity Affairs and Election Committee of the Party.

Chamling further added that fresh committees of the party at different levels will be constituted soon, and new appointments in different posts of the party will be made accordingly.

It needs to be mentioned here that, the SDF party has no MLAs left in the Sikkim Assembly after its lone legislator Tenzing Norbu Lamtha defected to the ruling SKM in July this year.

With this, the Sikkim Legislative Assembly has gone opposition less.
