Meghalaya Human Rights Commission issues notice to state DGP over killing of a daily wager in Shillong

Police informed that three labourers were working at an under-construction house in Mawroh when a group of unknown miscreants entered the premises and assaulted the trio.

In a recent turn of events, the Meghalaya human rights commission has taken suo moto cognizance to DGP over the killing of a daily wage labourer in Shillong on Wednesday. The MHRC has issued a notice to the DGP, Meghalaya to submit an action taken report within 15 days.

Earlier in a tragic incident reported from Mawlai Mawroh, unidentified miscreants assaulted construction workers at a site leading to the death of one person.

Following the assault, the injured were rushed to NEIGRIHMS where 52-year-old Arjun Rai, a resident of Nongmynsong succumbed to his injuries.

Upon investigation the police informed that three labourers were working at an under-construction house in Mawroh when a group of unknown miscreants entered the premises and assaulted the trio.


Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had yesterday assured stern action against the perpetrators of the violence at Mawlai Mawroh
