With just 8 days left for the Lok Sabha elections, Agatha K Sangma, the National People’s Party (NPP’s) candidate for the Tura Lok Sabha seat, who is also the sister of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is campaigning on a war footing in Garo Hills.
Agatha K Sangma, accompanied by her husband Dr Patrik R Marak, mother Amy Soradini K Sangma, and party leaders, addressed a vibrant public meeting in Samanda Megapgre yesterday and reaffirmed her commitment to fostering development and unity across Garo Hills.
She expressed gratitude to other political party leaders for their unwavering support.
Speaking on the changing political landscape in the state, Agatha Sangma said that in some areas, the absence of opposition leaders is conspicuous.
“Recently, during our visit to Raksamgre, it became evident that opposition voices are diminishing,” she added.
Citing the start of PepsiCo’s construction project in Mendipathar, she highlighted the positive impact of economic development initiatives taken by NPP in the state.
“The employment opportunities created by projects like the PepsiCo project will benefit the local population. The local MLA deserves praise for his efforts on behalf of the Chief Minister. It emphasizes how crucial it is to have coherent state and federal governance,” she said.
Speaking about the infrastructural improvements in the state, Agatha Sangma said, “During my MLA election campaign, I traversed areas with inadequate infrastructure. Communities voiced their need for roads, lights, and water facilities. Today, I am heartened to witness tangible improvements across various areas, including the development of a commendable stadium in Tura.”
Meghalaya will vote on April 19 in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections for the two LS seats – Shillong and Tura.
