Arunachal Pradesh:10 injured in pre-poll violence in Tirap district

The incident took place at Dadam village under Khonsa West assembly constituency.

In a recent turn of events reported from the poll bound state of Arunachal Pradesh, atleast ten people sustained injuries in a pre-poll violence which broke out between Congress and BJP supporters in Tirap District on Monday.

According to sources, out of the ten people who were injured , two of them have been referred to Dibrugarh for further medical treatment.

Both parties have filed FIRs against one another. Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Ira Singhal has called all the contesting candidates for a meeting on maintaining law and order in the ensuing elections.
Notably, Congress has fielded former policemen Tangse Tekwa for the Khonsa West seat against BJP candidate and sitting MLA Chakat Aboh.

Earlier, on Sunday night, amid the hectic politicking Arunachal NCP president and party candidate for the Namsai seat, Likha Saaya and his supporters were attacked by unidentified miscreants at Piyong village under Namsai police station.


Polling for the 50 assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh will be held on April 19 and results for the Assembly polls will be declared on June 2 and for the LS polls on June 4.
The ruling BJP has won 10 seats unopposed to the 60-member Arunachal Assembly.
