Pre-poll violence in Arunachal’s West Kameng injured 7 security personnel

The Incident took place at Tenga and Kalaktang in West Kameng district.

As many as 7 security personnel have been injured in what comes as an incident of pre poll violence from Arunachal Pradesh.

The security personnel were injured in stone pelting by supporters of two candidates.

The Incident took place at Tenga and Kalaktang in West Kameng district.

Meanwhile Police have registered 3 cases in connection to the incident at the Tenga and Kalaktang police station and investigation is on to identify and arrest the persons behind the violence.

On Saturday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that 60 seats in Arunachal Pradesh will go to polls on April 19.

However, on Sunday, ECI has rescheduled the date of counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh from June 4 to June 2.

The tenure of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is set to conclude on June 2, 2024.

In the preceding assembly elections held in April 2019, the BJP emerged victorious, securing a notable majority of 41 seats. Consequently, Pema Khandu assumed office as the chief minister on May 29, 2019.
