Denied election ticket, Arunachal BJP aspiring candidate joins Congress

Polling for the 60 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh will be held on April 19 and results will be declared on June 4
After being denied party ticket for the assembly election in Arunachal Pradesh, Takku Jerang, an aspiring candidate of the BJP from the Pangin constituency today switched allegiance from the BJP to the Congress in hopes of securing a party ticket.
Jerang had expressed his intention to seek the Congress ticket and challenge the BJP candidate, Ojing Tasing, for the Pangin assembly seat.
State Congress General Secretary Gyamar Tana said, “I welcome Takku Jerang to our party. He was seeking a ticket from the BJP to contest the Pangin assembly seat, but the party denied him one, so he joined the Congress. Hopefully, he will become an MLA after winning a seat on the Congress ticket in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.”
Gyamar Tana said that the announcement date for the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate list has been extended till tomorrow, as there is a possible inclusion of several new leaders from the BJP.
