NPP not to contest any of the LS seats in Arunachal, to support BJP-led NDA instead

Arunachal Pradesh has two Lok Sabha seats-- Arunachal Pradesh East and Arunachal Pradesh West
The National People’s Party (NPP) has decided not to contest any of the two Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh, instead pledging its full support to candidates from its partner National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP.
This was informed by the party national chief and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on X.
NPP Chief Conrad Sangma said that the NPP National Committee has decided to support NDA candidates in Arunachal Pradesh and urged its State Committee to do the same.
“The National People’s Party has decided not to contest the two Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh. Being partners in the NDA, the NPP National Committee has decided to support NDA candidates in Arunachal Pradesh and has directed its State Committee to extend support to the NDA candidates,” the NPP chief posted on X.
Lauding the move, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ruling BJP-led alliance will make sure that it secures over 400 seats.

Arunachal Pradesh has two Lok Sabha seats– Arunachal Pradesh East and Arunachal Pradesh West.
BJP has fielded Union Minister of Earth Sciences and party leader Kiren Rijiju from Arunachal West seat and state party president Tapir Gao from Arunachal East seat.
In the 2014 elections, Kiren Rijiju won the seat defeating Nabam Tuki of the Indian National Congress (INC). Meanwhile, Tapir Gao has won the Arunachal East seat defeating Lowangcha Wanglat of the INC
The Lok Sabha elections in the state will occur in a single phase on April 19 along with the assembly elections for 60 seats.
The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
