There are as many as 14 lakh ghost kids in Anganwadis in Assam. This was revealed by Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi while addressing a conference on Rashtriya Poshan maah or National Nutrition Month.

Gandhi said that the Assam government had carried out a survey in June as part of which physical verification of the number of children present in Anganwadis was done.

The survey, conducted by the Assam Government revealed that when compared to the number of children registered there was a shortfall of about 14 lakh.
