Leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) came down heavily on the Modi government while addressing a press meet in Tripura on Friday.

The former General Secretary of the CPI-M, Prakash Karat, slammed the Modi government and alleged that the economy of the country had only deteriorated during the Prime Minister’s tenure.

He also stated that the BJP government in the centre was turning a blind eye towards the plight of the Indian farmers.

The CPI-M leader also lambasted the central government for its silence on the continuous incidents of violence prevailing in the nation and also criticized the Modi government for its alleged lacklustre attitude towards flood hit Kerala.

Furthermore, Karat also accused the Modi government of providing insufficient relief funds to Kerela despite the massive scale of devastation in the state.

A two day long meeting of the CPI-M was held in the state of Tripura. The present Secretary General of the CPIM, Sitaram Yechury was also present at the event.
